When we boondock our tanks fill up pretty fast even when only putting liquids down our potty. It seemed to me that the amount of water being used per flush was excessive. The way an RV toilet works you really don’t need water to help liquids make their way into the tank. Alan came up with the idea of installing an inline shutoff valve for our RV toilet. The idea seemed pretty scary to me at first. It requires cutting your water line to your your toilet and installing a valve. I was afraid of leaks, but these shut off valves pressure seal and we have had no problems.
We checked Home Depot and Lowe’s and could not find a valve that was easy to use, easy to install, and the right size for our RV water line. Thankfully a quick trip to a local RV dealer and we easily got the part. This is an incredibly cheap RV mod for the water savings you get from it. The part only cost 14.99. To shave a few bucks off that total you can order online, but we didn’t feel like waiting.
We have a Forest River Wildwood 26TBSS thankfully the water line to our toilet is exposed and semi easy to access for this mod. Some RV’s have the line buried under the toilet and the toilet needs to be removed for this mod. Still an easy enough process but definitely more time consuming.
So here is what we did. I will let Alan write the instructions as I can often make the simplest things super confusing.
